Committed to providing the best service possible, our claims department is at the foundation of every Safeonline policy and is one of our greatest strengths. We pride ourselves on the expertise and skills of our claims team, as we know that when our clients experience a claim, it’s not just about making the insured whole again.
Our claims team is headed up by Ian Cavalier, an insurance claims professional with over 20 years experience in the London market.
Ian has been the Head of Claims for Safeonline since July 2010, and has significant experience with data breach/cyber, technology E&O, media liability and intellectual property claims, as well as other types of professional indemnity along with D&O, EPL, A&E, BI and other emerging classes for us.
His key responsibilities are:
- Managing and coaching our claims team
- Working closely with insurers, brokers, agents and loss adjusters
- Making sure that claims are dealt with according to financial services industry regulations
- Dealing with complaints and appeals
- Working on complex or fraudulent cases that need experience and specialist knowledge
- Maintaining quality and service standards
- Keeping accurate records for Board Level M.I. Reporting
- Responsibility for the department’s productivity and targets

The Safeonline Claims Charter
Prompt notification of a claim is a condition of all insurance policies, and failure to comply with this may prejudice the insureds position should a claim occur. It is therefore essential that any claim made against the insured, or any occurrence which might give rise to a claim is notified immediately in accordance with policy conditions.
Insurers and Safeonline then have an opportunity of giving you guidance and advice as necessary.
At Safeonline we are committed to providing you with a prompt, professional, competent and high quality claims service. As a minimum, we will:
- Acknowledge all new claims within 3 working days
- Provide claims references and next steps for seamless reporting
- Inform the progress of any claim at regular and appropriate intervals
